Well, I'm really happy to say that this year I've got help with putting together the luncheon and as an event it is looking very promising.

I've put together a website for TDWL which seems set to become its own entity - and that can be found here

The logotypes etc. (it's the designer me that insists) have all been given a facelift and I've concentrated on abstraction - simply because I guess my approach to the luncheon this year is to enable it to grow into its own ; perhaps even bridge that gap between the percieved difference of our sexualities.

I'd like the "Dominant" in the Dominant Womyns Luncheon - to be less about being the role of "Dominant" in a femdom sense - and more "Dominant" in a strong sense of the word. A celebration of feminine power and the strength of women in adversity is the undercurrent theme.

Well a blog is a good arena to vent I guess.

I've been in negotiations with the venue for 3 months and now two weeks prior to the event I'm starting to worry about wether or not the venue will be ready for this luncheon.

Part of me thinks - Ahhh its just me and nerves I want everything to be PERFECT and they're not delivering fast enough for me to feel secure about it

Part of me thinks.... Damn it I think I need alternatives.

I am being promised that all work on the venue (It still looks a bit more like a construction site than a multi-roomed den of iniquity when last I looked!!!) will be completed in time for the event.

They do have a deadline by next wednesday to come up with some satisfactory report - otherwise folks... well I'll have to think of somethingelse and QUICKLY.

V - rather stressed and NOT liking it at all.

Here are some answers to questions about the event as I have been asked as follows :

Q: What is the dresscode for the event?

A: The dresscode is fetish - whatever that means to you. Basically I would encourage that some effort be made to dress up but as it is an event to be held in the afternoon , I'm not going to insist that you wear a full PVC catsuit and die of heatstroke! As there are no walk-ins to this event we don't really need the "dress code to seperate the pervs from the riff raft" filter and dressing for pleasure is de rigeur here.

Q: Are there many people attending?

A: I would class the event as small and intimate. The venue itself is modest and would not easily accomodate more than 50 guests. The final guestlist has yet to be sorted with the inevitable last minute cancellations that tend to happen with these things. On paper - As of today (5th May) the figures are roughly 30+ persons in attendance excluding staff. Almost everyone has some form of a vouch (e.g someone who knows someone who knows someone) - I have made exceptions for two guests who will be attending this luncheon as a first event and will be under my charge.

Q: Is the venue private?

A: Yes the venue is private and admittance/parking etc... is by guest list only. Details for the venue is also only disclosed to persons who have 1) Paid deposit or 2) Left personal contact information.
ALL information that pertains to yourselves is erased at the close of the event - I do not keep you on a mailing list.

Q: How will limosine pickup be arranged?

A: At new street - a chauffer with a placard will arrive to ferry guests from the train-station to the venue. This is by prior arrangement only and the times for this is down to the individual's arrival. The agreed time is noon - thereafter it is at your convenience with an aproximate fifteen minute wait from call to pick-up. Drop off is also at your convenience should you tire earlier from the event.

Q: How much have you raised?

A: If everyone who says they would like to come... does so (and pays up) then we would have the £400 target with a little additional to take care of other sundry expenses such as marquee hire, crockery etc...

We now have a comfortable number of attendees to make the event viable.
We also have a suitable number of helpers and volunteers.

We have 4 tickets left.
I would appreciate a confirmation of attendance before any futher information on the venue is given out. This is done either via phone (for those paying on door) or by deposit/cheque.

Ettiquette

Some of the following is seriously intentioned and are guidelines to what would be considered appropriate and expected behavior at this event. It is ofcourse not a be all and end all. Having a page about etiquette is about creating atmosphere and a safe and pleasant environment for all. Some of it is even tongue in cheek and written with a wide broad grin because at the end of the day, we're all here to have a good time and to hopefully raise cancer awareness. We do not have the kink police!

Some sensible rules :

Respect others as you would wish to be respected.
All BDSM activity is by consentual agreement only.

Please respect the venue's assets and property. If you aren't sure wether something is allowed - please ask. People who can help you in this will be introduced to you at the door.

Please respect the staff as everyone who helps out is doing it out of love (or slave labour). No one is obliged to put up with non-consensual abuse.

Please confine smoking to smoking only areas out of courtesy to our non-smoking guests.

Exact details of the venue location is kept confidential and we ask that this practice be respected should you decide to attend. We also ask that the same confidence be kept with regards to the people in attendance at the luncheon itself , bearing in mind that not everyone is open or out about what it is we do and we would like to maintain a warm, secure and friendly atmosphere.

Some whimsical rules :

Men are welcomed to attend the event but only at the bequest of a Lady and on condition that they are happy to pay a "penis tax" (if you use it, you're taxed on it!) and comply with a "No speaking without permission" law. The day is specifically for the Ladies. Exceptions to this rule of silence apply to men folk who arrive in non-speaking roles i.e, pet dogs/cats/ponies, furniture.

Dungeon etiquette* :

We leave what it is that we do to be openly interpreted by you in so far as the following is agreed to -

Any biological waste must be safely and discreetly disposed of.

Any practice you engage in that may possibly shock or offend is pre-negotiated with a monitor.

All equipment provided by the venue is to be safeguarded by yourself during and after usage. Please make use of wipes and disinfectant provided as a courtesy to our other guests.

Please be aware of and considerate towards other playroom occupants.

It is inappropriate to interrupt a scene (wether intentional or unintentionally) to which you have not been invited. The exception to this is made by monitors who are there to support and look after the best interests of all.

For breach of any of the above etiquette the venue owners and event organiser reserve the right to eject and/or barr a person from further participation to this and other future events.
The venue owners, event organiser and consequent subsidiarys are not liable and will not be held responsible for any injury resulting from the misuse of any and all facilities provided in good faith.

This blab is the raw informational content that will go into the webpages currently being created.

This is primarily a social event for *Dominant Ladies and their guests to relax and be themselves, or perhaps mingle with other Ladies to network, exchange ideas or solve little pet dilemmas**.

It's one thing to read advice off an article or a webchat; It's quite another to be able to talk to someone face to face about the daily ins and outs of an ongoing BDSM relationship/s.
I think BDSM in general is a hugely creative involvement and at times it helps to simply bounce ideas off other creative and involved individuals, just to generate new ideas and energy buzz.

It is with that premise in mind that this event is set up; An afternoon of fun and frolicks for Ladies (and their guests) who are invited to arrive in a leisurely manner from 12noon till 1pm. A limosine service is also provided for Ladies who would prefer to be picked up from a central location in the city centre (Birmingham). For Ladies who drive, the venue offers a valet service and your car will be parked for you.

All guests are welcomed to partake of the venue's multiple playrooms as well as out door space.
Exact details of the venue location is kept confidential and we ask that this practice be respected should you decide to attend. We also ask that the same confidence be kept with regards to the people in attendance at the luncheon itself , bearing in mind that not everyone is open or out about what it is we do and we would like to maintain a warm, secure and friendly atmosphere.

A light buffet luncheon is served up promptly at 1pm and high tea to follow at 3:30pm, both to be partaken of in the social hub that is the kitchen. Full maid service is available should you prefer your food and drink brought to you if you are otherwise engaged at the time.

Through the course of the day it is my hope to organise impromptu knowledge share "workshoplettes" - that is to say that we have a pool of very wonderful and knowledgable Ladies in attendance. Depending on what is called for on the day itself, we could very quickly put together small demos of technique and skill or led discussions on various topics. My own bias would be for discussions of a more esoteric nature on topics that are seldom covered at other kink events such as

S/m spirituality and the aspect of Goddess

Homeopathy within BDSM

Consistency and Ritual.

Mentorship and the Femme switch.

Enslaving your partner.

If these topics would appeal to you (and ofcourse if you would like to get involved in these topics) it would be helpful to indicate an interest with your enquiry that would go towards determining its feasibility. If you have other suggestions for topics/workshops that would also be welcomed

The event finishes at 5pm with a traditional raffle draw. The prizes that will be up for grabs will be updated and discussed on TDWLunch blog (external link)

I think that the essence of any great event is good food, great venue and great company -- We do seem to have all of the components of an unforgettable event and fingers crossed the great company will simply result from all the components put carefully together! We are not terribly concerned with the specific implications of labels and jargon. Interpret it how you will. I had a seed of an idea a while back, to do a Dominant Ladies only lunch/social but never really managed to get around to organising one despite numerous requests to do so on the heels of past events that I have organised.

Last year (2005) was a rather harrowing year for me within my own personal life and in many ways I was transformed by the experience - there were occasions when I did not feel all that Dominant or in control as other life tsunamis showed themselves and in those times I have always been thankful for the support of my girlfriends who have rallied around me in the way that really only other womyn can do. (I know it's completely sexist - so what)

I know you've heard the schpeil so I'll make it as brief as possible. Cancer and cancer related conditions affect quite a number of Womyn and so the cause is not new but of late it seems to have touched the lives of those I hold dear to my heart - particularly cancer of the womb/cervix.

So today I decided to get off my arse and do something about it. I contacted cancer research and they will be sending me an informational pack on hosting a fund raiser. I'd like to make it official ofcourse and really do something in memory of as well as for those that I hold dear both in my heart and mind. I've got a venue on board, limosine services for people who need picking up and dropping off, catering and some assorted bits and pieces. My personal goal would be to raise atleast £1,000 but I'm keeping the estimate real at a £400 min fund raiser from the luncheon itself.
I'm cobbling a few quick webpages together to deseminate more information about the event which I'll publish as soon as possible.

For now the bare bones of it is as follows :
